If the water was too deep, they might drown because their injuries would probably hinder them from swimming out. However, if the water was too shallow, it was possible they would plummet to their death.

He told CNN, “I then did think ‘I’m gonna die here,’ because no one knew we were here or went over and we were both hurt and for a minute I couldn’t even remember how we got there.” They couldn’t move in the dense forestry, so there was no way they could physically go back to the road to ask for help from passersby.
