Mikey struggled to remember how they got in the accident, but he was conscious enough to try to do something. Although he had a cellphone with a local SIM, he realized that it also got lost in the crash. Surprisingly, he could feel that his American phone was still in his jacket pocket, and after taking it out, he turned its international roaming on. There was barely a signal on it, but he managed to carry out what he did next.

“I got it and turned on international roaming and just barely got signal,” Mikey told CNN. After deciding to put an SOS out on Facebook, he posted this: “Help. In danger. Call police.” Then, there was nothing else he could do but wait. Thankfully, he didn’t have to wait long because these days, depending on how much active your social media accounts have, your friends will probably notice if there is something off. At that point, it was up to Mikey’s Facebook friends to do something and save the day…
