She was considered to be the first one to have mastered writing what we now call, ‘chick lit.’ Although she writes about passionate love affairs, she appeared to have neglected her own love life. She was engaged once, but it didn’t last even for a day as she immediately had a change of heart. She, later on, focused on her work more and devoted her whole life on it.

The characters she portrays on screen may be comically obsessed with marriage, but Mindy Kaling appears to have a contrasting view about the matter in real life. She recently decided to become a mother and to raise her child alone. She said, “In my 20s, I was not only boy crazy, but marriage and relationship crazy. … Now it’s almost the opposite.”
