During an interview with the Washington Post, Aaron shared that the thing that made them closer. They both planned to adopt. “When we were still dating, a common bond that drew us together was the fact that Rachel and I both wanted to adopt,” Aaron explained. The couple had been intent on the idea and had been for most of their lives. It was a really special thing to connect with each other, and so soon.
