The Slugger’s Wife (1985)

Starring Rebecca De Mornay and Michael O’Keefe, this 1985 romcom follows a baseball player who falls in love with a singer. Neil Simon of The Odd Couple wrote it, but viewers just did not feel it. Critics gave it terrible reviews. TV Guide even branded it ‘one of the most disappointing, least credible films about baseball in recent memory’. That’s got to hurt! Maybe the leads just did not have chemistry whatsoever.

Return to the Blue Lagoon (1991)

In this sequel, moviegoers watched teenage Milla Jovovich and Brian Krause in their attempts to survive a desert island and puberty. Based on “The Garden of God” by Henry De Vere Stacpoole, it simply did not live up to the original. It was unable to recoup the $11 million that went into its creation. Critics said it was ‘a textbook example of a disaster.’ That’s pretty harsh, but if the shoe fits!
