Jake was recognized for his charity work for his wife and the hospital and rewarded the honor of ITV Fundraiser of the Year at the Pride of Britain Awards. People mostly learned about their story through Emmy’s blog detailing her battle. Emmy had no idea the impact that her blog would cause.

Regardless of what was going on, Emmy and Jake still wanted to create a family together and be parents. Since Emmy couldn’t have kids she planned to have a surrogate, and minutes after posting on her blog she had tons of women offering their assistance.
