Vincente Minnelli
Vincente Minnelli was born in 1903 in Chicago but most of his childhood years were spent moving between Ohio, Illinois, and Indiana. His family ultimately decided to settle down in Delaware. After he graduated from high school, the would-be director went back to Chicago. He started to involve himself with theater work and was employed with jobs that entail costume and set designs.

His immense passion for theater led to his first work as a director. A musical called At Home Abroad. The musical started production in 1935 and had a successful run for two years. Minnelli’s reputation as a director grew more and more. This allowed him to land a job in Metro Goldwyn Mayer Studios, which would be the first step to making his name a fixture in the film industry.
