In June 1987, in northern Toronto, Lyneth drove to a dollar store on Islington Avenue. It was a hot day in the summer, and she went to get Jermaine. Her son spent some time there with his father, Alan, and agreed to meet up at 4 p.m. When his parents split up, the young boy was only a baby. On that day, she really did not do anything out of the ordinary. It was nice to be on her own for a little while, however. Lyneth went grocery shopping and ran some errands. She knew she had to get it for her son when she spotted a stuffed lion! Jermaine loved lions, after all. Alone, she had a pleasant time, but she missed him.
