Kirk Hammett
Kirk Hammett, a Metallica member, was recruited as a replacement for Dave Mustaine, Metallica’s previous guitarist, when he was 16 years old. After frontman James Hetfield approached Hammett, his parents put him on a plane to New York to meet with the band. When the kid walked into the venue, the band was not impressed, but when he nailed the solo for the hit “Seek and Destroy,” they hired him on the spot.
