Emmit turned back to the entitled woman, and all the room clapped at the next thing he said. The woman needed to be taken down a notch, and he would be the one to do it. Even though Emmit was not aggressive by nature, he had to stand up for himself. He shot a remark at the woman, and she looked like she had been struck in the face by his words. Her eyes grew wide with disbelief as she recoiled.

Emmit told the woman no; he wasn’t in the military. An African-American with money was what he was. Only a slur that would drive the point home contained the words he had chosen. The crowd cheered and applauded, delighted with the response of Emmit, and loved the reaction of the woman. But the story was still not over.
