Shih Tzus (pronounced “sheet-su” are one of the smaller breeds that really enjoy lounging around. So if you have a smaller space, you should definitely consider this type of dog for you and your family. Shih Tzu’s have amazing personalities and are great with children- no matter how young they may be. Considered to be one of the most loyal companions, Shih Tzu’s tend to stay close to their owners at all times and also love to snuggle. Another awesome thing about this dog breed are that they are low shedding which means you won’t find their hair all over your house.

There’s no reason for you or your kids to be intimidated by this dog’s size. Newfoundland’s or “The Gentle Giant” are complete naturals when it comes to young kids and said to be extremely protective of their owners. Although the Newfoundland are extremely gentle they do however require regular exercise. Fun fact, this dog breed is actually excellent swimmers and of course, they love playing in the water…just another reason your family will love this breed. Just be sure you have enough space for this big, fluffy canine as they do grow to be quite large (around 150 pounds).
