How To Make Authentic Chai Tea Latte

Imagine being in the comfort of your bed, cozied up under the blankets with snow outside and a warm delicious mug of chai tea in your hand. When you need a tasty drink to keep you warm on a winter day, Chai tea may just be the answer you’ve been looking for. Transitions into winter are never easy, but this delicious blend of flavor can easily turn a bad day around and satisfy all your sweet cravings. Enough of the flavorless North American stuff, because this Indian drink is rich, milk, flavorful and steaming hot. While most cafe’s or your local coffee shop will serve Chai Tea, you can also make it at home with these easy tips! Stop wasting your money at Starbucks, and instead become a chai tea expert!

How To Make It:

Allow for the water, milk, and chai spices to simmer over the stove as you reduce the temperature and add in some black tea. After the tea begins to steep, you can train the warm spiced mixture into a much, which will hold the spices and tea leaves. Then you can finish by adding in a dash of sugar, usually 1 tbsp per cup, to sweeten the bitter taste.

What Spices Are Used?

Some of the most commonly used spices include:

  • cinnamon
  • ginger
  • cloves
  • cardamom
  • star anise
  • fennel

Feel free to use any, or all, to create your own flavor. Everything can be personalized and that is the benefit of making it at home!

Iced Chai Tea

While the delicious beverage is most commonly served hot, you can also enjoy a cold glass of chai tea on a hot summer day. You’ll use the same ingredients as before, but this time use 1 cup of water or milk (cow’s milk, almond milk, soy milk, etc.), and stir to combine and then make sure to serve over ice.
