America’s Got Talent golden buzzer was introduced in Season 9, with each judge being able to press the buzzer only once! Once per season! Kodi Lee auditioned for the fourteenth season of AGT performing Leon Russell’s magical song “A Song For You.” Lee received an all-round standing ovation not only from the audience but the judges too. Lee was born with optic nerve hypoplasia which resulted in him being blind, he was later on in his life diagnosed with autism and Addison’s disease. However, none of this got Lee down- his musical talents managed to rake up such an uproar that led to his golden buzzer from Gabrielle Union. His audition video got over 50 million views within just two weeks. Lee went on to actually win the fourteenth season!
Grace Vanderwall auditioned for AGT during the eleventh season’s auditions, she was only 12-years-old. She performed an original song that was about her identity titled, “I Don’t Know My Name.” Simon referred to her as the next Taylor Swift. An incredibly touching comment from Simon himself. Her audition video raked in more than 100 million views and cracked the top 5 trending videos on YouTube. No wonder, she received the golden buzzer from Howie Mandel and boy has she gone places. Grace is the second female to ever win AGT!
Detroit Youth Choir
The Detroit Youth Choir brought down the house in their audition on the fourteenth season of AGT. They performed “Can’t Hold Us” by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis which consisted of singing, rapping, and dancing. The Choir was founded as an organization for the youth to be involved in productive activities in the Metropolitan area of Detroit. The choir received a standing ovation from all the judges but host, Terry Crews, was so emotional and so moved by their story and purpose that he ran out and pressed the buzzer.
Angelica Hale at the age of four contracted rare and severe pneumonia which made her severely ill and on the brink of death. She managed to pull through but was left with scarring on her right lunch, permanent scarring. Well, for someone with permanent lung damage she has a set of pipes on her. Her voice is simply breathtaking, crowd-catching, and everything in between. Not in her audition but in the Judges Cuts, she performed “Girl On Fire” by Alicia Keys where Chris Hardwick, who was a guest judge at the time, gave her the golden buzzer. She was only 10 and became the youngest runner-up in AGT history.
Her story. Her energy. Her presence. Everything about Kechi led her to deserving that golden buzzer! Kechi is originally from Nigeria but moved to Houston Texas where she currently resides. Kechi is one of two plane crash survivors who survived a crash in 2005- the crash took the lives of 107 people. Kechi took part in the twelfth season of AGT where she ended as a finalist, however, she then came back to the show. Kechi competed in America’s Got Talent: The Champion’s, this is where it all changed. The golden buzzer was pressed, by the one and only, Simon Cowell. A huge accomplishment. Simon said that his biggest regret was never giving Kechi the buzzer previously. Just wait till you see the next little pack of dynamite…
Darci Lynne auditioned for season twelve of AGT, where she stole the hearts of the audience and judges. Her talent is simply amazing. Darci is a ventriloquist and says she loves it because it is an uncommon and somewhat dying industry/ talent. Darci sings through her pet puppet, a bunny named Petunia. Boy oh boy, does Petunia have a voice on her. Shocked is an understatement, she ventriloquizes such an unbelievable voice through her bunny, how, is simply a mystery. Her golden buzzer was given by ex-Spice Girl Mel B! Darci won the twelfth season and was runner up in The Champion’s season.
Sofie Dossi is an American gymnast who featured on season eleven of AGT. The contortion artist shook up the stage, the judges and the crowd. She received the golden buzzer from Reba McEntire, a guest judge at the time. In her audition, she bent her knees over her head, grabbed an apple. But, it was one move is that set her audition way above the bar. WHilst in a handstand she managed to shoot a bow using her feet that hit a target feet away! Dossi had the crowd and judges in total awe.
That feeling of being so on edge, jumpy, anxious yet you still have to watch. These feelings are Zurcaroh! They are an acrobatics group from Götzis, Vorarlberg, Austria. To be a part of their act one does not have to be a professional nor have training but they provide training and accept anyone. Polished, professional, and a riveting performance. It is truly no wonder they received the golden buzzer from the host of season thirteen, Tyra Banks.
Pediatric nurse, Michael Ketterer, stole the hearts of Americans across the country, nevermind that, people across the globe. He is not only a nurse but a father to six children whom he and his wife adopted out of the foster system. Back to his unbelievable talent now, Michael has the voice of an angel. He captivated all and managed to sweep Simon right of his feet and was gifted the golden buzzer from him. Ketterer placed fifth in the show overall but was arrested the following day on domestic violence allegations.
10-Year-old Roberta has been singing since she was 3, she started out singing with her dad who also simply loves to sing. Roberta took the stage filled with emotion and excitement, the light in her eyes showed that just being on the show was enough for her. She sang “Shallow” by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper. Simon offered her a glass of water, to calm the nerves but no one expected what was to follow. Roberta was a pack of dynamite! She killed the audition and guest judge, Sofia Vergara, simply had to slam that buzzer.
