Winona Ryder

In a blink of an eye Winona Ryder went from the beautiful and quirky ‘girl next door’ to the fringes of Hollywood. Sure her shoplifting arrest is common knowledge and her work in films like ‘Black Swan’ and ‘Homefront’ has kept her relevant, but it is her battle with depression that is so notable at this point in her career. Winona suffers from severe anxiety and was thrown into bouts of depression after the very public dissolving of her relationship with superstar Johnny Depp. Following the break up Ryder had to seek therapy and was eventually instituted for a brief spell to attack her mental problems. Since that point in time Ryder has refused to take on lead roles in film work due to the stress that it puts on her emotionally.

Pete Wentz

For Fall Out Boy bassist and songwriter Pete Wentz, emotional vulnerability was the best way to get ahead in the game. Wentz is known for his cutting, cathartic, and sometimes macabre take on the pop rock genre. Apparently the words he wrote were not an act, as it has come to light that the famous musician routinely struggled with mental issues including a severe bout of depression that culminated in an attempted suicide. Wentz detailed the story of his suicide attempt in an interview with Playboy. In 2005, presumably at the top of the world, Wentz and a friend got loaded on drugs and alcohol and ended up playing a dark game of Russian Roulette. Wentz also recalled a moment where he tried to overdose on Ativan. Now, with children in tow, Wentz seems to be on the straight and narrow. he claims a good support system and great friends have kept him mentally well.
