Establish personal ‘free’ time.
The easiest way to stack up stress is to never let your mind or body have a moment to just relax. Finding a way to have half an hour or so to yourself can be a great way to sort of flush the stress out of you. For this tip all you need to do is promise yourself that you will block out prat of your day for private time. Spend it reading a book, grabbing lunch with a friend, or even meditating. Do whatever it is that you want to do during this time. Stress can build up when we think about how busy we are and how we’ll never have time to relax. So give yourself little ‘relaxation breaks’ during the day. They don’t have to be long. They could be a half hour, like we mentioned above, or just five minutes every hour. Walk to the water cooler. Stretch your legs. Check your email. Do something that offers you nothing but personal enjoyment. These breaks will become little islands that you can swim to when the rest of the workday becomes too much.
Identify your passion and pursue it.
We don’t mean that you should quit your job and move to Los Angeles to try and be an actor. Instead you should take some time to identify what itt is that you feel strongly about in relation to your hobbies and passions. Are you really into kayaking? What about sketching? Whatever activity, either mental or physical, that you choose will lead you to a more chilled out state of mind. When you have time to sit and small, enjoying the simple things, you won’t feel as pressed to stress as much the next time you feel it beginning to build. You won’t need an online degree in counseling to know that being happy leads to being less stressed. You will also find yourself more involved in new things. New hobbies bring about new people and sometimes a new relationship can be just what you need in order to start feeling better about yourself. You never know where your passions can lead.
