Dukan Diet

Some diets make promises that are so extraordinary you will likely brush them off without trying them. Enter French nutritionist Pierre Dukan, who claims that you can lose 10 pounds in a week with his diet. Dukan created this diet back in 2000 and has since gotten some mixed reactions. For some the diet works wonderfully, for others it may be too demanding. This diet primarily consists of oats, water, lean protein and a daily walking session of at least 20 minutes. The goal of this diet is to keep your intake of carbohydrates down low and then to walk in order to get the gears turning to burn any fat. This diet is broken up into four phases: Attack, Cruise, Consolidation, and Stabilization. The Attack phase consists of a limited diet of water, oat, and lean protein. After ten days you move on to the Cruise phase which adds on unlimited non starchy veggies every other day. The Consolidation and Stabilization phase round out your new diet and teach you how to keep it going long term.

Shangri-La Diet

Before we dive into this odd, but effective, diet plan we need to make it clear that you won’t be traveling. Instead the Shangri-La Diet aims to trick your body’s dependent on flavor as a form of satiation. The inventor of the diet, Doctor Seth Roberts, claims that drinking up to 500 calories of flavorless oil in between meals will fill you up and stop you from indulging. His theory is that we like highly flavored foods, like donuts, because of how many calories they have. The flavorless oil helps stop our mind and body from making a flavor to calory connection. Instead you can keep eating what you want as long as you use the oil as your finisher. Being filled on the flavorless oil will help curb your appetite and thus stop you from indulging and gaining weight.
