Plastic surgery and cosmetic dentistry has become an inevitable part of ‘making it’ in Hollywood, so long as you want to fit in with the rest of the pack! The truth is that plastic surgery can be done in two different ways: it can be a well done career advancing move or it can make you look a little bit like Frankenstein’s monster. There are many reasons that celebrities turn toward the knife. Some want to stay young while others want to look perfect. Some celebrities substitute talent with another trip to the doctor while others just want to be in the tabloids. No matter what reason these celebrities went under the knife, the results quickly become very evident in the media. Let’s take a look at some celebrities that successfully integrated cosmetic surgery and cosmetic dentistry into their career as well as a couple who, well, didn’t do it the right way. So if you are ready to see some of the finest successes in the world of plastic surgery, keep going! Beware, as you will also see some of the most disastrous bouts of plastic surgery and cosmetic dentistry in Hollywood history.

Kaley Cuoco

You may know this superstar from the hit television show The Big Bang Theory but the odds are good that she wouldn’t be a household name today if it weren’t for a little bit of help. On her 18th birthday Kaley Cuoco got breast implants in order for her to sell herself better as a Hollywood starlet. The surgery occurred during her run on the comedy 8 Simple Rules for the television channel ABC. Cuoco came out about her procedure in an issue of Cosmopolitan. Cuoco called the breast implants the ‘best decision’ that she ever made. The fact that Cuoco now makes over $1 million dollars per episode of Big Bang is proof that she did the right thing. And while we find it highly unlikely that she’ll ever go under the knife again because, I mean, look at her, we can’t argue with the decision. So in some cases it is quite obvious that surgery can play an important role in becoming a bigger star. Let’s look at another famous success story, this one a pop star!

Britney Spears

Our next superstar is the pop star Britney Spears. She rose to fame as a teen sex symbol and she’s more or less been a public figure for the better part of the last decade. Spears has admitted to getting lip injections done and there are rumors that she has also had work done on her nose. Spears told InStyle Magazine that she has visited Dr. Raj Kanodia in Beverly Hills as part of her routine to stay looking fresh, vibrant, and young in an industry that demands perfection from its aging stars. In the past so many celebrities have been guarded about their visits to see Doctors in relation to getting cosmetic work done. Can Britney help lead the way in bucking this trend? We don’t see why not! In fact, Dr. Raj Kanodia is doing his part as well. Kanodia has quite the impressive list of clientele that reportedly includes Jennifer Aniston, Ashlee Simpson, Cameron Diaz, and Cindy Crawford. While it is easy to wag our finger at women who go under the knife, we can’t argue with Britney’s results!

Heidi Montag

Heidi Montag set the world on fire when she first made her television debut on the reality series The Hills. Montag was a blonde babe with a body made to make men drool but that apparently wasn’t enough. Since The Hills went off the air Heidi has gone on to have dozens of plastic surgery sessions performed upon her body. From frequent breast implant changes to face lifts, tummy tucks, and botox…the list seems never ending. Montag now bears little resemblance to the young and beautiful figure that appeared back in 2003 and she is apparently cognizant of this fact. Montag has spoken repeatedly about her regrets and wishes that she had never started down this path. Plastic surgeons who have worked on Montag appeared to have lost credibility as her looks have diminished with each passing piece of work.

Dianna Agron

Dianna Agron is one of the most stunning young Hollywood starlets in the world. Whether we are admiring her sculpted chin, beautiful eyes, or flowing blonde locks it is hard to think that she’d ever needed any work done! Agron is a mild mannered celebrity when she isn’t on the big screen and it is easy to see why she is so popular in Hollywood. With little in the way to controversy, there seems to be nothing to address about Agron. She’s a natural beauty, right?! Well… As it turns out Ms. Agron admitted on David Letterman back in 2011 that she had, in fact, gotten some work done. Agron claimed that she had broken her nose twice before finding out that she needed to have nose plastic surgery for a deviated septum. While doing the work the doctor also managed to make her nose even more shapely than it was prior, so maybe the break was worth it after all! Dianna Agron has starred in the series Glee, the DeNiro film The Family, and the Aram Rappaport thriller Conspiracy on Jekyll Island.

Farrah Abraham

Farrah Abraham came to fame through the MTV reality series Teen Mom. Abraham was a dramatic, but beautiful, young mother who immediately became a bit of a sensation. Unfortunately when the cameras stopped rolling Abraham still wanted that attention. Since her departure from the show Abraham has been a constant source of tabloid fodder for her antics and own body image manipulations. Abraham has already upgraded her breasts by getting implants and she immediately put them on display with a controversial sex tape. Abraham has also gone under the knife to get a nose job and she doesn’t seem to care if anyone knows. While Abraham is young she is trending toward the route that Joan Rivers and Heidi Montag walked before her.

Dwayne Johnson

If you are familiar with Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson then you know that his inclusion upon this list just has to be a mistake. But it isn’t. In fact, Dwayne Johnson is one of the most successful people to fix himself through liposuction. That’s right! The hulking, physical, beast from films like G.I. Joe and Pain & Gain has had a little bit of lipoplasty work done on his body. While we are all familiar with the Rock’s rippling muscles but what we probably didn’t realize is that he was having an issue with pseudogynecomastia. That word, which is long and difficult, basically means that the Rock had fat deposits in his breast! Now as a red blooded heterosexual male we are sure he’s fine with breasts on women, just not on himself. So to remedy the issue the Rock went in for liposuction surgery. The augmentation sucked out the fat deposits and gave back that flat and muscular chest that has made him so much money. The surgery occurred back in 2005 and the Rock has only been trending upward ever since. Nowadays he is one of the most inspiring physical specimens on the planet and he has also become one of the most bankable stars in all of Hollywood.

Amanda Bynes

As facial plastic surgery goes, there are a few ways that the results can shake out. We have seen the high marks in corrective procedures (Dianna Agron) and we have also seen the low marks (Heidi Montag, Joan Rivers). Ms. Amanda Bynes, who stole the hearts of young boys everywhere as a Nickelodeon star, firmly belongs in the second camp. Since her time as a cast member of All That and her run as the host of the Amanda Bynes Show, Ms. Bynes has become somewhat of a disaster. With her career dwindling Bynes turned to drugs and surgery to try and fix whatever was going on. Bynes has had numerous botox injections, nose corrective work, and many other procedures. Despite still being young, Amanda Bynes has successfully tweaked her appearance to an uncanny level. Bynes serves as another warning of caution to young stars that think ‘more is better’ in the matters of fixing your own physical imperfections.

Joan Rivers

When it comes to unmitigated cosmetic plastic surgery disasters we have to discuss the late Joan Rivers. Rivers sadly passed away in 2014 but she did so after having lived a long and exciting life. Rivers is best known for her work as an actress, a writer, and a host on television. Looking past her successes we have to discuss her failures with cosmetic surgery. Rivers joked about having over 700 procedures done in her life, but that is obviously hyperbolic. What we do know is that Rivers frequently attacked her image with botox surgery, face lifts, nose surgeries, and various other forms of facial cosmetic changes. When Rivers passed away at the age of 83 she certainly didn’t look her age. She also didn’t look very human. Despite the sad state of her plastic surgery related problems, Rivers was a host with unmitigated energy and affection. She was a frequent source of smiles as she routinely bounded around red carpets. Rivers was quick to laugh and even quicker to make a jab so it is sad to see the way things ended up for her. Unlike many other plastic surgery disasters, Rivers never apologized for her appearance and in doing so she made those failures part of her character. Not exactly a recommended approach, but the technique worked for her.
